Dosimetric models are needed for dose-response analysis of the thyroid dose in children to facilitate dose-response modelling of thyroid diseases. We developed dose-response models for thyroid dose using the statistical theory and simulation of dose-response curves. The models were obtained using the thyroid equivalent dose (TED) and the lowest unirradiated reference level (LUR) of the thyroid dose. For the TED, we used the biological effective dose (BED) for calculating the equivalent TED, and for the LUR, we considered the LUR-P and LUR-AP models. The LUR-AP model is new and was developed based on the LUR-P model by assuming a constant percentage of thyroid absorbed dose (APD) in the LUR for children. The TED-BED and LUR-AP models were fitted with the thyroid dose in 70 subjects ranging from 3 to 10 years of age. The LUR-AP model was better than the other two models in fitting the thyroid dose of children. The results also indicated that BED may not be the best dose metric for the thyroid dose. This work is the first to propose new dosimetric models for dose-response analysis of the thyroid dose in children. The LUR-AP model was shown to be the best in fitting the thyroid dose of children, and a BED-TED model would be preferable for dose-response analysis. FILED
